Egyptian Papyrus

•Recommended Temperature Zone: Sunset: 16, 17, 23,24, USDA: 10
•Frost Tolerance: Needs some protection in the coldest part of the range.
•Sun Exposure: Any to full sun.
•Origin: Was cultivated by ancient Egyptians for many uses, including paper.
•Growth Habits: Bog plant by nature. Evergreen sedge, reaches up to 10 feet. Protect from strong winds. Can be grown (or wintered over, in cold areas) indoors as a house plant.
Description: Tall, graceful, dark green stems 6-10ft. high topped with clusters of green threadlike parts to 1½ft. long, (longer than small base leaves).
The very minute flowers are bisexual or unisexual.
•Watering Needs: Grows in a shallow pool in water, or in a moist soil.
•Propragation: Clump division.
I bought 2 of these for the back yard ponds. I tried one just in a
saucer of water, it really soaked up the water with the temp at
110° so I moved it into my other pond. They look great! And are turtle proof!
